Hepatitis C is a serious issue and one needs to keep oneself fully informed about this virus in order to save health and getting affected from the serious side effects. A patient tends to go through the stage of a kind of inflammation of the liver. The condition is brought in to action by the Hepatitis C virus.

Hepatitis C can also be referred to as the type of Hepatitis that shows symptoms similar to the flu.

This is the reason that most people are not aware of the fact that they have been infected with the virus of Hepatitis C. The virus is only detected when the person visits a health care practitioner for a medical examination.

There are several causes of transmission of this serious condition including tattooing, body piercing, sharing needles, unprotected sex, blood transfusion, sharing of drugs and sharing of personal items such as a razor.

This disease can easily spread via a blood -to- blood contact.

There is no specific treatment available for Hepatitis C. However, health care practitioners often recommend the patients to go for a bed rest and have plenty of liquids. This has to be followed in conjunction with a healthy diet routine and complete abstinence from alcohol.

In case, you have been suffering from only mild Hepatitis C, you would see a difference in your condition just within two or three weeks. The complete recovery would take about four to eight weeks.

However, if you have been defected with chronic Hepatitis C, your health care practitioner will recommend protein interferon acquired from synthetic sources. This treatment is helpful in improving the functionality of the liver and eliminates the symptoms of this condition.

You may have to suffer from certain side effects such as headaches and fever. These side effects may not affect some patients at all. Only 10-40 per cent of Hepatitis C patients are prone to these side effects.

The treatment provided for Hepatitis C completely depends on the amount of damage that has been done to liver by the viruses.

Sometimes, treatment is not considered to be an only option. This is because the medicines used widely to treat Hepatitis C produce serious side effects.

The actual goal of treatment given to Hepatitis C is to exterminate the infectious virus from the patient’s body as early as possible. The length of the term depends of the damage done to the liver and the effect of medicines on the patient’s body.

- Anti-viral medications used to treat Hepatitis C

A) Peginter feron to fight off the infection.

B) Combination of interferon antiviral therapy and ribavirin to enhance the chances of eliminating the virus from the body.

The disease is serious. Hence, it is very important to keep tabs on the symptoms of this disease and most importantly, take as much as preventative methods as possible.

You need to be really cautious when getting blood from someone or getting a medicine injected in to your body.

There is no vaccination that can save you from this disease. Preventive measures and watching out for the symptoms would be wise steps to take.

Hepatitis C is a medical condition that shows no symptoms in many of the people that come in contact with the hepatitis C virus. Although there are symptoms which indicate hepatitis C, many doctors may also mistake them for other condition symptoms. Hepatitis C is a condition that can lead to liver diseased and even liver damage.

Some of the symptoms for hepatitis C can be fatigue, nausea, headaches and even memory loss from time to time. There are a lot of cases where people who had those hepatitis symptoms were diagnosed incorrectly because the doctors could not figure out that they actually had a hepatitis C infection. This is a very serious condition that hides its roots well. The main way of the hepatitis c virus spread is through blood. This hepatitis virus can also be passes down from mother to fetus, but these are less common cases of hepatitis C. Because hepatitis C is a silent condition , many people come to suffer from severe liver damage. You can have the hepatitis C virus, but because there are no hepatitis symptoms not even know that. The hepatitis virus has a period of incubation of about 180 days and afterward hepatitis C sets up. The hepatitis virus shows no signs that he is there and slowly starts to damage your liver. Many people realize that they have hepatitis C after they have come to chronic hepatitis stage.

There is no vaccine that can help you prevent the infection with hepatitis C virus. So all one can do to prevent hepatitis C is to avoid all the risk factors. If the hepatitis C virus is contacted, your body will try to fight it. However, the hepatitis virus can mutate and evade your immune system. As many as 80 percent of the people that are infected with the hepatitis C virus will not be able to destroy it completely. There are hepatitis C treatments available, but unfortunately they do not work for all the hepatitis patients. Some people are not able to support the mediation that must be taken in case of infection with the hepatitis C virus. There are also side effects of the hepatitis C treatment that must be taken into consideration. Doctors still search for an effective hepatitis C treatment. The most recent discovery in a hepatitis C treatment is a genetically engineered drug which must be comnined with another drug called ribavirin.

Hepatitis C is an inflammation of the liver caused by the hepatitis C virus. Hepatitis C virus is also known as the HCV virus. Cirrhosis and cancer
can result from damage done to the liver by the hepatitis C virus.

There is no cure or vaccine for hepatitis C. Just prevention. To keep from getting hepatitis C, take the following four precautions:

1. Do not share personal care items that might could have blood on them. Such as a shaver, nail clippers, or even a toothbrush. This also includes those needles they use for tattoos and anything to do with piercing the body.
2. Stay away from non-prescription intravenous drugs. If you must, get vaccinated against hepatitis A and B.
3. If you work in health care, or are a fireman or are a policeman, get vaccinated against hepatitis B.
4. Hepatitis C can be spread by sexual contact. If you are having sex with more than one steady sex partner, it’s recommended to use a condom each time. You should also get vaccinated against hepatitis B.

What to Do if You Have Hepatitis C

Talk to your doctor to see if treatment with interferon alpha or a combination of interferon alpha and ribavirin can help you. Don’t take any nutritional supplements without seeing your doctor first. Avoid alcohol. Even small amounts of alcohol can be dangerous because they speed up the progression of the hepatitis C (alcohol also reduces the effectiveness of hepatitis C treatment).

When it comes to Hep C millions of people across the globe get in to deep worry. The reason is that Hepatitis C can hit the liver real hard. This can result in serious conditions such as cirrhosis and cancer.

However, the good news is that this serious condition can be treated. In fact, you would be happy to know that a variety of treatment options are available, these days for Hep C.

First and foremost, one must know about the signs and symptoms of this disease. It is a fact that most people are not aware of the presence of this infectious virus in their bodies because the symptoms are quite similar to flu.

The disease can be easily transferred to the body via certain common practices such as needle sharing, unprotected sex, tattooing, body piercing and blood transfusion. Experts usually warn that spreading of this disease is as simple as blood-to-blood contact.

- Treatment options: Here are some of the most common things, a medical practitioner prescribes.

A cause of medications is often prescribed as soon as the patient is identified with the Hep C virus. The treatments provided to the patient for Hep C is known to be most efficient when prescribed in the early stages of the infection.

When this disease reaches the stage of being chronic, the treatments may not prove as effective. The complete cure of infection is not possible in chronic conditions.

The treatment of Hep C involves a lot of process such as interferon administration and a medication. This medication was actually designed for patients with leukemia.

Interferon is a type of natural body protein usually produced during the interference of viral infectious agents inside the body. The body produces interferon in very small quantities. However, this protein is powerful enough to fight against harmful viral infections.

Luckily, the beneficial effects of interferon can easily be multiplied via modification of this protein in the laboratory. Most of the patients with mild and uncomplicated types of Hep C usually respond well to the interferon treatments. This helps in recovering from this disease once the patient completes his courses with this type of medications.

However, the patients with chronic or more advanced types of Hep C may suffer from relapse soon after they stop taking these treatments.

The treatments based on interferon is not appropriate for the patients suffering from chronic forms of Hep C. Additionally, long term treatments can result in severe side effects.

Experts usually recommend combination treatments for patients with chronic Hep C. These treatments involve use of peginterferon and strong antiviral medications. Ribavirin is widely used antiviral medication. Peginterferon is an interferon that is altered chemically.

Both Peginterferon and antiviral medications are given together in order to obtain best results. If taken in right doses and over the prescribed period of time, the patients are known to be immensely benefited.

Once diagnosed with Hep C, don’t panic. The reason is the availability of some great and effective treatments. Start the treatment as soon as you get diagnosed with Hep C.

About three million Americans have chronic Hepatitis C, a liver disease thats the most common condition leading to liver transplantation in the US Although Hepatitis C is treatable, the standard 48-week therapy only cures about 40% of patients, and its side effects are notoriously brutal and very difficult for many patients to endure. But a new Duke University Medical Center study finds adding a new anti-viral drug to the standard therapy can cut the length of the treatment regimen in half …
Help answer the question about hepatitis c treatments

About Author

Hepatitis is the Latin word for liver inflammation. It is characterised by the destruction of a number of liver cells and the presence of inflammatory cells in the liver tissue.

Hepatitis can be caused by diseases that primarily attack the liver cells. It can also arise as a result of a disease such as mononucleosis.

Hepatitis can be divided into two subgroups according to its duration:

# acute hepatitis – lasting less than six months

# chronic hepatitis – lasting longer than six months.

The main goal of treatment of chronic hepatitis C is to eliminate detectable viral RNA from the blood. Lack of detectable hepatitis C virus

RNA from blood six months after completing therapy is known as a sustained response. Studies suggest that a sustained response is

equated with a very favorable prognosis and that it may be equivalent to a cure. There may be other more subtle benefits of treatment,

such as slowing the progression of liver scarring (fibrosis) in patients who do not achieve a sustained response.

All current treatment protocols for hepatitis C are based on the use of various preparations of interferon alpha, which are administered

by intramuscular or subcutaneous injection. Interferon alpha is a naturally occurring glycoprotein that is secreted by cells in response to

viral infections. It exerts its effects by binding to a membrane receptor. Receptor binding initiates a series of intracellular signaling

events that ultimately leads to enhanced expression of certain genes. This leads to the enhancement and induction of certain cellular

activities including augmentation of target cell killing by lymphocytes and inhibition of virus replication in infected cells.

Hepatitis is the inflammation of your liver, due to different causes. The main reason why you get hepatitis C is because of the infection with the hepatitis virus. Other cases would be medication, alcohol and even some diseases. Hepatitis C is the worst type of hepatitis that one can have. It is mainly spread through blood that is contaminated with the hepatitis C virus.

There are many people that are infected with hepatitis C virus or actually have hepatitis C and do not show any symptoms at all. Thy is happens to about three thirds of all hepatitis C patients. However, there are hepatitis C patients that develop symptoms. One third of the hepatitis C people feel general sickness, yellow skin and eyes, a loss of apatite and fatigue.

These are the maine hepatitis C symptoms that one might have. Weight loose is another of the hepatitis C symptoms that may appear. Aching joints will also be a problem is having hepatitis C. However, there are a lot of people that will suffer from hepatitis C and not have any symptoms at all for as long as thirty years after contacting the hepatitis C virus. This is not a reason to be happy, because the hepatitis virus will slowly damage your liver and you will not even know that. If these people do not take the test for hepatitis C, they will find out that they are actually infected with the hepatitis C virus when they liver will be in grave

danger.

An amazing number of people that had been infected with the hepatitis C virus will go one to live with parts of this hepatitis virus still in them. About fifteen percent of the hepatitis patients will actually get rid of the hepatitis virus completely. These are also the people that will not suffer from any consequences after they have had hepatitis C. Amazingly, not all the people that are infected with the hepatitis C virus actually need treatment. If you have hepatitis C it is best that you talk to your doctor and see whether you should take the hepatitis treatment or not. There are certain factors that one must take into consideration before starting the hepatitis C treatment. The hepatitis treatment has some side effects and unfortunately there is no vaccine to prevent the ingection with the hepatitis C virus. The hepatitis treatment should not be given to people that have other medical conditions.

Hepatitis is the medical term for a condition that has as a result the inflammation of your liver. In most of the hepatitis cases, the inflammation is caused by an infection. The other reasons that can lead to hepatitis are alcohol abuse, different types of medication, poisons and even other diseases. There are different types of hepatitis, one of them being hepatitis C. This particular type of hepatitis is caused by the hepatitis C virus.<br />

Here are some very important facts to remember when suffering form hepatitis C:

- if the inflammation caused by the hepatitis C virus is not reversed in time, it can lead to chronic hepatitis; in turn chronic hepatitis can lead to chronic disease of the liver, that can go as far as liver failure or death;

- if other hepatitis treatments did not work and you find yourself in the situation of a liver failure, the only thing left to do is a liver transplant;

- an astonishing number of almost eighty percent of the people that suffer from hepatitis C also develop the chronic hepatitis C form;

Nowadays, hepatitis C has become a very serious threat worldwide. In some countries, like the United States Of America, at the top of the causes that lead to liver damage is hepatitis C. The hepatitis C virus is very spread and many Americans are victims. The hepatitis C virus is also the reason for about twenty percent of the acute hepatitis and more than fifty percent of the cirrhosis cases are believed to be caused by the hepatitis C virus. There are many people that have antibodies for the hepatitis C virus, thing that means that they were exposed to this hepatitis virus once in their lives.

The hepatitis C virus is very contagious and is mostly transmitted through blood products or blood. Contaminated needles are a very big part of infection with hepatitis C. People who use drugs intravenous and use dirty needles are very much at risk of developing hepatitis C. Blood transfusions are also a risk factor when hepatitis C is concerned. Nowadays, there is a test that is done to see if the blood that will be given to another person is infected with the hepatitis C virus.

There are also other causes of infection withe the hepatitis C virus, but they are less common. The hepatitis C virus can be passed down from mother to infant or through sexual intercourse.

This disease can easily spread via a blood –to- blood contact.

Hepatitis C is a severe disease caused by a virus that affects the liver. The virus is transmitted by blood to blood contact and contrary to what some people believe, you can’t get the virus by touching or kissing an infected person. You can get it by getting an injection with the same needle that was used on someone with the virus or by having sexual intercourse with a person that suffers from hepatitis C.

The disease can be acute or chronic, in the first 6 month from the infection it is acute and it rarely presents any symptoms. In 20% of the cases the virus is eliminated from the body in these first 6 month. If it is not eliminated then the hepatitis becomes chronic and the virus starts to affect the liver. It does serious damage to the liver and it must be treated as much as possible.

The purpose of the hepatitis C treatment is to try to stop the virus from causing more damage to the liver and to try to eliminate it from the body.

If a patient has a mild acute hepatitis C than they probably don’t know that they have it because there are no symptoms, but if they know that they have been infected then the treatment to prevent the hepatitis from becoming chronic must be started. This treatment is not hard and it is successful in most cases.

If a chronic hepatitis was just diagnosed than treatment must begin soon. The patient’s life changes when he/she fins out that he/she has chronic hepatitis C.

Hepatitis C is treated with the help of drugs> Most doctors recommend a combination of interferon with ribavirin. These two drugs help the body figt the hepatitis C virus and try to stop it from inflammating the liver.

The treatment period depends on the patient and on the type of hepatitis genotype the patient has. Genotype 2 and 3 need 6 months of treatment and genotype 1 usually takes one year to treat.

The hepatitis C treatment may or may not work. Some people are cured and at some people the drugs have no effect. If the doctors see that 3 months have passed without any result then the treatment is ceased. A recent study has shown that the hepatitis treatment work for half the patients.

The bad part about the treatment is that the drugs are very expensive and they also have serious side effects. The most common side effects are headaches, fever, fatigue and weakness, depression and more.

Some people do not even start the hepatitis C treatment because of its cost, chance of success and side effects. You need to consult your doctor and make a decision on what treatment you would like to choose.
