Hepatitis is a very common disease that can cause a lot of damage to your liver. In cases of viral hepatitis, there are some ways of prevention, but this generally speaking.

The most important thing to if you do not want to get infected with hepatitis is to keep a very good hygiene of your body and try to avoid living in crowded homes and most of all in unhealthy conditions. Because the viral hepatitis is mostly spread in the water, be very careful when travelling to places of the world where the quality of the water is uncertain. To avoid getting yourself infected with hepatitis, take care what you drink, where you bathe. If you are a seafood fan, be careful not to eat shellfish from waters that might be contaminated from the swage system. You can risk getting infected with hepatitis virus. Wash your hand every time after using the toilet and be careful not to eat with your hand dirty if you do not want to develop hepatitis. If, unfortunately somebody that you live with has developed hepatitis, clean all things that person with hepatitis has used.

Another common way to get infected with hepatitis is through needles that have been infected with hepatitis. This is mostly common in people who use drugs and in some medical procedure in less developed countries. Therefor, it is very good to let people know what risks they expose themselves, including hepatitis, when using intravenous drugs. Sexual contact can also be a cause for hepatitis infection, so teens should be educated accordingly.

In cases of hepatitis A, there are vaccines available. This vaccine is mostly recommended to people who travel a lot or have other liver problems, besides hepatitis. Furthermore, if those people have jobs that include contact with children or with many people, like in hospitals, the hepatitis vaccine is very indicated. There is available a vaccine for hepatitis B as well, which is a very good news in what hepatitis risk is concerned. Unfortunately, such a vaccine does not exist when hepatitis C is concerned. Studies on animals have shown that hepatitis C does not provoke the response that is needed for the vaccine to have any effect. If you contact the hepatitis virus, depending on what type of hepatitis you have, there are incubation periods. In hepatitis A, it lasts about one month, in hepatitis B from 4 to about 20 weeks and the longest is in hepatitis C, between two and twenty six weeks.

Hepatitis C is a serious issue and one needs to keep oneself fully informed about this virus in order to save health and getting affected from the serious side effects. A patient tends to go through the stage of a kind of inflammation of the liver. The condition is brought in to action by the Hepatitis C virus.

Hepatitis C can also be referred to as the type of Hepatitis that shows symptoms similar to the flu.

This is the reason that most people are not aware of the fact that they have been infected with the virus of Hepatitis C. The virus is only detected when the person visits a health care practitioner for a medical examination.

There are several causes of transmission of this serious condition including tattooing, body piercing, sharing needles, unprotected sex, blood transfusion, sharing of drugs and sharing of personal items such as a razor.

This disease can easily spread via a blood -to- blood contact.

There is no specific treatment available for Hepatitis C. However, health care practitioners often recommend the patients to go for a bed rest and have plenty of liquids. This has to be followed in conjunction with a healthy diet routine and complete abstinence from alcohol.

In case, you have been suffering from only mild Hepatitis C, you would see a difference in your condition just within two or three weeks. The complete recovery would take about four to eight weeks.

However, if you have been defected with chronic Hepatitis C, your health care practitioner will recommend protein interferon acquired from synthetic sources. This treatment is helpful in improving the functionality of the liver and eliminates the symptoms of this condition.

You may have to suffer from certain side effects such as headaches and fever. These side effects may not affect some patients at all. Only 10-40 per cent of Hepatitis C patients are prone to these side effects.

The treatment provided for Hepatitis C completely depends on the amount of damage that has been done to liver by the viruses.

Sometimes, treatment is not considered to be an only option. This is because the medicines used widely to treat Hepatitis C produce serious side effects.

The actual goal of treatment given to Hepatitis C is to exterminate the infectious virus from the patient’s body as early as possible. The length of the term depends of the damage done to the liver and the effect of medicines on the patient’s body.

- Anti-viral medications used to treat Hepatitis C

A) Peginter feron to fight off the infection.

B) Combination of interferon antiviral therapy and ribavirin to enhance the chances of eliminating the virus from the body.

The disease is serious. Hence, it is very important to keep tabs on the symptoms of this disease and most importantly, take as much as preventative methods as possible.

You need to be really cautious when getting blood from someone or getting a medicine injected in to your body.

There is no vaccination that can save you from this disease. Preventive measures and watching out for the symptoms would be wise steps to take.

What is hepatitis?
Hepatitis is inflammation of the liver, usually due to viral infection or alcohol abuse. The condition can be a short episode (acute) or a prolonged illness (chronic). There are many hepatitis viruses; the three most common are called hepatitis A, B and C.
What causes hepatitis and who is at risk?
Hepatitis is most commonly caused by hepatitis viruses or excessive alcohol intake. Hepatitis may occasionally be caused by exposure to certain chemicals or drugs.
Hepatitis A
Hepatitis A is spread by ingesting substances contaminated with the hepatitis A virus, including food and water, or using contaminated cutlery or crockery. Contamination is usually due to poor hygiene, especially unwashed hands after using the toilet.
Symptoms usually appear about two weeks after contact with the virus. After the initial phase, which may last from a few days to several weeks, the symptoms subside.
Hepatitis B
Hepatitis B is a more serious condition. It often leads to chronic hepatitis and extensive liver damage. It may lead to cirrhosis (scarring) of the liver and is a major cause of liver cancer.
Hepatitis B virus is spread through body fluids, such as blood, semen, saliva and vaginal secretions. The most common routes of infection are sexual contact with an infected person and contaminated needles used for intravenous drug abuse.
Hepatitis C
Hepatitis C also spreads via body fluids. The most common routes of infection are sexual contact and using contaminated needles for intravenous drug abuse.
Effective blood- screening procedures have greatly reduced the chances of hepatitis C infection from blood transfusions.
The effects of hepatitis C are initially less severe than those of the A and B forms. The symptoms usually appear between one and 10 weeks after exposure and often jaundice does not develop.
Other types of infections
Alcoholic hepatitis
Alcoholic liver disease is one of the major causes of death in the Western world, and the harmful effects of excessive alcohol intake should never be underestimated. Hepatitis caused by alcohol may be acute or chronic, and contributes to cirrhosis (scarring) of the liver.
Drug-induced hepatitis
Various drugs, if taken in deliberate overdose, may cause hepatitis; the most common in the UK is paracetamol. The outcome depends on the quantity taken and the time until treatment is administered in hospital; death can occur months later from liver failure.
What are the common symptoms and complications of hepatitis?
In some cases, people with hepatitis have no symptoms at all. However, many attacks of acute hepatitis produce a range of flu- like symptoms at first, including:

Fatigue

Headache

Loss of appetite

Nausea or vomiting

Fever

What is the treatment for hepatitis?
You may need to have blood tests for several months to monitor the progress of the disease. Treatment of alcoholic hepatitis involves withdrawal of alcohol and subsequent management of alcohol addiction.
Self-care action plan
To prevent the spread of viral hepatitis and protect you against infection:

Always wash your hands thoroughly after going to the toilet and before preparing food

When sanitation is questionable, boil water before drinking it and avoid uncooked food or food washed in water that has not been boiled

Do not expose yourself to the bodily fluids (blood, semen, vaginal secretions, saliva) of individuals infected with hepatitis B or C

Avoid excessive alcohol intake

Heterosexually promiscuous or having sex with a promiscuous partner

A sexually active gay male

HIV positive

An intravenous drug user

A health care or dental worker

There are more than eighty percent of all hepatitis C patients that go on to develop chronic hepatitis C. In such cases, there is but one sure way to see the extent of your liver damage because of chronic hepatitis: a biopsy of the liver. This procedure is of the highest importance because it can determine the degree of the liver inflammation, the stage of your hepatitis. Knowing all these information about hepatitis then makes it that much easier for the doctors to prescribe you the proper treatment you should take for you hepatitis. Some of the hepatitis patients may find out after this procedure that they do not need treatment, but most of them will need it.

A biopsy is a procedure that it is used in many medical conditions, including hepatitis C. The doctors takes a very, very tiny part of your liver, using a special needle and analyzes that part under a microscope. After this, the damage that hepatitis has done to your liver is determined and treatment for hepatitis may start. Nowadays, there are more treatments for hepatitis C than there were a couple of years back. In 2004 another combination of drugs was recommended for treating hepatitis C. Ribavirin and interferon alpha are some of the newest available treatments for hepatitis C. This combination, however, is used for the people that suffer from moderate hepatitis C. It can also be used for more severe ceases of hepatitis, like chronic hepatitis C. More than half of the hepatitis C patients that have used this treatment were pleased with the result. The infection was cleared and furthermore after about six months form the end of the hepatitis treatment, doctors did not detect any hepatitis virus in the

patients blood. The rate of success that this hepatitis C treatment has is also according to what genotype you are suffering from. In cases of genotype 1, more than forty percent of the hepatitis patients are cured, but when it comes to genotype 2 and 3, more than seventy percent of the hepatitis C patients are cured.

The duration of the hepatitis C treatment depends on what genotype you have. If you are suffering from the genotype 2 or 3 of hepatitis, then this hepatitis treatment will probably last up to six months. In the rest of the hepatitis cases, the duration of the hepatitis treatment is somewhere around one year.

Hepatitis C is a very serious condition that can actually damage your liver very badly. This type of hepatitis, hepatitis C is the most frightening of all hepatitis types and it can very easily lead to liver cancer of even liver failure. There are treatments available for hepatitis C, but many of them are not right for you. What a hepatitis C patient must do is go to a doctor and discuss together with him/ her the right hepatitis treatment for him/ her.

When you use a treatment for hepatitis C, try to keep in mind that there are three very important things that a hepatitis treatment tryes to do. The first thing is to completely remove the hepatitis C virus from your organism, then to slow down, stop if possible the damaging of your liver and last but not least to remove all the hepatitis C symptoms that you have and thus make you feel a lot better. There are two types of hepatitis C treatment that have been aproved since now by the doctors. The first hepatitis C treatment is with interferon or with pegylated interferon alone, with no other combination and the second hepatitis C treatment is interferon combined with ribavirin. Doctors give hepatitis C patients interferon, because this drug is a kind of protein that can help fight the infection that you have. All people have interferon in their organism, so by taking this hepatitis C treatment you will have more interferon that you would normally do. This drug used to cure hepatitis C can be found in the form of a shot.

The second hepatitis C treatment is with interferon and ribavirin. Ribavirin is a drug that can fight some types of viruses, including the hepatitis C virus. This medicine come in the form of a pill, that the hepatitis C patient can swallow. Alone, ribavirin has no effect against hepatitis C virus, but together with interferon it can work miracles. To make sure that the hepatitis treatment that you are taking has any affect on you, your doctors will take blood samples before you start the hepatitis treatment, during this hepatitis C treatment and of course after you have finished the hepatitis treatment. Then your doctor will run some tests on the blood samples and tell you how your body is responding to the hepatitis C treatment. There are cases where this hepatitis C treatment will not work.

Hepatitis C is an infectious disease caused by infection with hepatitis C virus (HCV). This type of virus has been recently identified to cause a wide range of liver diseases such as cirrhosis (liver cancer). Without the aid of treatment, persons with hepatitis C can over time develop serious complications that involve the liver, including cancerous activity at the level of the organ. In order to minimize the risks of complications and to control the effects of hepatitis C, doctors often prescribe a course of specific medications right after they identify the presence of HCV in patients. As in the case of other similar infectious diseases, hepatitis C treatments are most efficient when prescribed in the early stages of the infection. Otherwise, hepatitis C can eventually become chronic, rendering existing treatments unable to completely cure the infection.

Hepatitis C treatments commonly involve the administration of interferon, a medication that was initially designed to treat patients diagnosed with leukemia. Interferon is actually a natural body protein produced when viral infectious agents intrude inside the human body. Although the body produces interferon in small quantities, this protein is very effective in fighting against viral infections. However, the benefic effects of interferon can nowadays be enhanced by modifying the protein in the laboratory. The majority of patients with mild, uncomplicated forms of hepatitis C generally respond well to treatments with interferon, completely recovering from disease after completing longer courses with this type of medication. At the opposite pole, patients with chronic or more advanced forms of hepatitis C are often confronted with relapse soon after they stop receiving such treatments.

The main problem with interferon-based treatments is that they are inappropriate for patients with chronic forms of hepatitis C. In addition, long-term treatments with interferon can produce severe side-effects and thus they aren’t usually administered for more than 6 months. For patients with chronic hepatitis C and patients who fail to respond to treatments with interferon, combination treatments are generally the best option available. Commonly used combination treatments consist of peginterferon (chemically altered alpha interferon) and strong antiviral medications. A very extensively used antiviral medication is ribavirin. This efficient antiviral agent is often administered along with peginterferon in order to obtain the best results. Administered in the right doses and over longer periods of time, combination treatments with peginterferon and ribavirin can successfully cure patients with acute hepatitis C, as well as patients with chronic, recidivating forms of the disease.

While these previously mentioned forms of treatment are efficient among patients with uncomplicated forms of hepatitis C, they are often useless when administered to patients with advanced hepatitis. For patients with severe hepatitis C, liver transplant is the only available option in present.

When it comes to Hep C millions of people across the globe get in to deep worry. The reason is that Hepatitis C can hit the liver real hard. This can result in serious conditions such as cirrhosis and cancer.

However, the good news is that this serious condition can be treated. In fact, you would be happy to know that a variety of treatment options are available, these days for Hep C.

First and foremost, one must know about the signs and symptoms of this disease. It is a fact that most people are not aware of the presence of this infectious virus in their bodies because the symptoms are quite similar to flu.

The disease can be easily transferred to the body via certain common practices such as needle sharing, unprotected sex, tattooing, body piercing and blood transfusion. Experts usually warn that spreading of this disease is as simple as blood-to-blood contact.

When it comes to treatment options, here are some of the most common things, a medical practitioner prescribes.

A cause of medications is often prescribed as soon as the patient is identified with the Hep C virus. The treatments provided to the patient for Hep C is known to be most efficient when prescribed in the early stages of the infection.

When this disease reaches the stage of being chronic, the treatments may not prove as effective. The complete cure of infection is not possible in chronic conditions.

The treatment of Hep C involves a lot of process such as interferon administration and a medication. This medication was actually designed for patients with leukemia.

Interferon is a type of natural body protein usually produced during the interference of viral infectious agents inside the body. The body produces interferon in very small quantities. However, this protein is powerful enough to fight against harmful viral infections.

Luckily, the beneficial effects of interferon can easily be multiplied via modification of this protein in the laboratory. Most of the patients with mild and uncomplicated types of Hep C usually respond well to the interferon treatments. This helps in recovering from this disease once the patient completes his courses with this type of medications.

However, the patients with chronic or more advanced types of Hep C may suffer from relapse soon after they stop taking these treatments.

The treatments based on interferon is not appropriate for the patients suffering from chronic forms of Hep C. Additionally, long term treatments can result in severe side effects.

Experts usually recommend combination treatments for patients with chronic Hep C. These treatments involve use of peginterferon and strong antiviral medications. Ribavirin is widely used antiviral medication. Peginterferon is an interferon that is altered chemically.

Both Peginterferon and antiviral medications are given together in order to obtain best results. If taken in right doses and over the prescribed period of time, the patients are known to be immensely benefited.

Once diagnosed with Hep C, don’t panic. The reason is the availability of some great and effective treatments. Start the treatment as soon as you get diagnosed with Hep C.

Hepatitis C is a medical condition that shows no symptoms in many of the people that come in contact with the hepatitis C virus. Although there are symptoms which indicate hepatitis C, many doctors may also mistake them for other condition symptoms. Hepatitis C is a condition that can lead to liver diseased and even liver damage.

Some of the symptoms for hepatitis C can be fatigue, nausea, headaches and even memory loss from time to time. There are a lot of cases where people who had those hepatitis symptoms were diagnosed incorrectly because the doctors could not figure out that they actually had a hepatitis C infection. This is a very serious condition that hides its roots well. The main way of the hepatitis c virus spread is through blood. This hepatitis virus can also be passes down from mother to fetus, but these are less common cases of hepatitis C. Because hepatitis C is a silent condition , many people come to suffer from severe liver damage. You can have the hepatitis C virus, but because there are no hepatitis symptoms not even know that. The hepatitis virus has a period of incubation of about 180 days and afterward hepatitis C sets up. The hepatitis virus shows no signs that he is there and slowly starts to damage your liver. Many people realize that they have hepatitis C after they have come to chronic hepatitis stage.

There is no vaccine that can help you prevent the infection with hepatitis C virus. So all one can do to prevent hepatitis C is to avoid all the risk factors. If the hepatitis C virus is contacted, your body will try to fight it. However, the hepatitis virus can mutate and evade your immune system. As many as 80 percent of the people that are infected with the hepatitis C virus will not be able to destroy it completely. There are hepatitis C treatments available, but unfortunately they do not work for all the hepatitis patients. Some people are not able to support the mediation that must be taken in case of infection with the hepatitis C virus. There are also side effects of the hepatitis C treatment that must be taken into consideration. Doctors still search for an effective hepatitis C treatment. The most recent discovery in a hepatitis C treatment is a genetically engineered drug which must be comnined with another drug called ribavirin.

Hepatitis is known as the inflammation of the liver produced by viruses, medications, toxic agents. Hepatitis of viral cause is considered to be acute or chronic. There are different types of viruses that produce different types of hepatitis: hepatitis A, B, C, D, E each has its own characteristics.

Hepatitis C is shared by contaminated needles, drug-injection equipment, non-sterilized equipment for acupuncture, tattooing and body piercing, by unprotected sex, during delivery from mother to baby, when prizing cocaine, through a blood transfusion.

Some people may have no evident symptoms but they transmit the virus to others.

Most common symptoms include: nausea and vomiting, loss of appetite, diarrhea, <a href="http://www.bestweightlossdiary.com"target="_blank"title="weight loss" >weight loss, itchy skin, jaundice. A high percent of people pass the virus to others and remain infected for many years, acute hepatitis becomes chronic hepatitis. The complications that occur in chronic hepatitis are: liver cirrhosis, liver cancer.

You are advised to search help in local clinics of sexual health, or special clinics which include: genito-urinary department, sexually transmitted diseases, venereal diseases departments. You can find the nearest clinic by searching on the internet or phone at your local hospital. Treatment and advices are free and confidential. NHS sexual health clinics usually offer the kind of treatment needed in the cases of acute hepatitis. You may also address: your own GP, a hospital Accident and Emergency department, www.playingsafely.co.uk offers detailes of STD clinics, to http://herpes-coldsores.com/support/std_clinic_us.htm for STD clinics in Australia, New Zealand, Puerto Rico and India.

There are some tests to be performed to see exactly, if you are infected and with what type of hepatitis, blood tests, a test for antibodies to the hepatitis C virus which shows if you have antibodies against hepatitis C virus and that you have been exposed to hepatitis C virus and the source of infection is important to be discovered, if your tests are positive it means you are infected with hepatitis and you can pass it to others.

Some people remain chronically infected with hepatitis C virus and transmit the infection to others, liver function tests, liver biopsy are required to see if you need to follow any treatment. A reinfection may occur any time. If the result is negative it means that you have never been in contact with hepatitis C virus. Those test(blood tests, physical check-ups) are recommended to be repeated in specialized services. At present there is no vaccine anti- hepatitis C available. Other measures you should take if you have active hepatitis are adopting a healthy diet with no fats and low salt, use condom when you have sex in order not to pass the virus to your partner, do not share your toothbrush or your shaving equipment.

Remember to use condoms so as not to pass or get sexually transmitted infections.
