While aromatherapy uses plants..."herbs", the way they work are as different as night and day. aromatherapy stimulates the brain, via the nose and skin, to put out brain chemicals which in turn cause other body chemicals to also secrete. Sometimes within seconds Lavender oil will stop a migraine when rubbed on the temples. Eucalyptus oil will quickly open sinuses and lung passages to restore breathing caused by constricted vessels. Sure this is symptomatic relief (not placebo)not a cure but virtually every medicine is not curing .....pain relievers, colds, headaches,red eyes, a cough, itching and on and on and on. Only a handful of medicines cure but you know what? Herbs cure also. And very well without side effects I might add. they are quite different. There are no side effects from the homeopathic remedy if it is the correct remedy for the patient. Remember that if it is the correct remedy, the person will get worse for a few hours before getting better. The danger is that giving it too long (over 3 weeks) or in the wrong dilution will eventually cause the symptoms that the Belladonna would give (poisoning).
